STORMZY LEADS MOBO NOMS
10/18/17

Stormzy is having quite the year. First he has the biggest selling indie album in the U.K. this year, Gang Signs & Prayer (#Merky), and now he’s nominated in five categories for 2017’s MOBO Awards.

He’s up for Best Male, Best Grime Act, Best Album for Gang Signs & Prayer and Best Song and Best Video for "Big For Your Boots."

Two Sony acts—Black Butter rapper J Hus and the hotly tipped Jorja Smith, who is releasing music through Columbia—are amongst top nominees for the Music Of Black Origin Awards. Hus picks up four nods (Best Male, Best Album for debut Common Sense, Best Song for "Did You See" and Best Video for "Spirit"); Smith, whose debut album is due in 2018, gets three for Best Female, Best R&B/Soul Act and Best Newcomer.

Universal signing Stefflon Don also has three nominations: Best Female, Best Hip Hop Act and Best Newcomer. Young Turks Sampha completes the group of threes with Best Male, Best R&B/Soul Act and Best Album for his Mercury Prize-winning debut, Process.

The winners will be revealed during a ceremony at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on 11/29. Find the full list of nominees and vote here.
