ELLE KING NAMED U.K.'S FIRST AMERICANA QUEEN
1/29/16

Americana music has got its very own chart in Blighty, courtesy of the Official Charts Company. The Americana Albums Chart launched today, with Elle King (signed to Sony U.K. imprint Columbia overseas) topping the first-ever edition with debut album Love Stuff.

In conjunction with the U.K. Americana Music Association, the chart, which was revealed last night on Bob HarrisBBC Radio 2 Country show, will be published weekly.

As well as featuring contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American styles, the chart will feature artists whose work is influenced by the genre, like London trio Bear’s Den (signed to indie label Communion Records), and Columbia’s Swedish duo First Aid Kit. Both acts will appear at the U.K. Americana Awards next week.

King's been busy on a promo trip to London recently, visiting Graham Norton’s Friday night show and the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. Her debut single “Ex’s & Oh’s” has vaulted from #64-15 on the Official Singles Chart, is currently sitting on the BBC Radio 1 A List and was just added to Capital's Heart today. It's making its way up the RadioMonitor charts, improving seven places this week to end at #12. Love Stuff, meanwhile, has rocketed 40 places to land at #18 on the Official Albums Chart today.
