WHAT IT IS: Jaz Karis, a South London talent, began singing in church choirs at seven, influenced by the gospel, Soca and soul played in her home. Her path took her from school talent shows to the Brit School, where she learned lessons that shaped her sound. She’s now a steady presence in the U.K. music scene, blending R&B, soul, Amapiano, and Afropop. Known for her independence, she’s earned support from DJ Target and Sian Anderson, among others, while collaborating with Juls, Blue Lab Beats and Stonebwoy. She’s released four EPs and headlined two sold-out shows in London, including one at Lafayette.
