WHAT IT IS: 2023 XXL Freshman Real Boston Richey brings a blend of world-weary cool and unyielding confidence to his music. Since his 2021 debut single, “Big YIC,” the Tallahassee-based rapper has built a following with his mix of melodic trap and aspirational bravado. His rise continued with projects like Public Housing (2022), Public Housing 2 (2023) and Trapping & Finessing, each showcasing his raw storytelling, compelling hooks and unique flows. Richey’s major-label debut, Welcome to Bubba Land, was released last year on Freebandz/Epic. His most recent single, “Help Me,” has gained traction on TikTok, entering the platform’s Top 50 and debuting at #3 on the YouTube charts.
