WHAT IT IS: Ghanaian American singer, writer and multidisciplinary artist Moses Sumney presents his new EP, Sophcore, on 8/2. The six-track release marks his first body of new music since 2021’s Live From Blackalachia, which followed 2020's critically acclaimed double album græ; each was praised by such publications as the L.A. Times, N.Y. Times, Pitchfork and Variety. The EP, which features his latest single, “Gold Coast,” delves into the intersection of sensuality, intuition, esotericism and populism, blending subterranean rhythms with bass and drums. Sumney describes Sophcore as “music for the hips as well as the heart.”
