Raphael Saadiq's music production company, My Kind of Music/My Kind of Movies (MKOM), has brought Yancey Richardson on board to oversee music supervision for film and television projects.
Richardson served as music supervisor on Saadiq's latest endeavor, the Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden-directed film, Freaky Tales. The film, which centers on Bay Area rap staple Too $hort, earned a coveted spot at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
"We are thrilled that Freaky Tales premiered at Sundance 2024," Saadiq said. "The addition of Yancey Richardson to our team further solidifies MKOM's commitment to delivering exceptional musical experiences in the world of television and film."
MKOM continues to expand its portfolio. The second season of the Emmy-nominated animated Marvel series, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, debuted 2/2 on the Disney Channel.
Saadiq also worked and performed on the holiday song “Miracle” f/Kelli-Leigh for the soundtrack of Eddie Murphy’s Christmas movie, Candy Cane Lane (Amazon Prime Video). Watch the first look trailer for Freaky Tales below.
