WHAT IT IS: Bronx-bred rapper ScarLip, who went viral on Instagram with a collection of singles and poetry, gained traction in 2023 with “This Is New York,” which cracked 4m views on YouTube and boasts nearly 2m streams on Spotify. She’s keeping the momentum going with “No Statements,” which boasts an instantly recognizable chorus, thanks in large part to its social-media impact. ScarLip plans to chronicle her life’s journey with her debut project, Scars & Stripes.
