WHAT IT IS: Describing himself as “Death Cab for Country,” Southern Indiana-born, Nashville-based Stephen Wilson Jr. draws upon indie rock, grunge and country to create a distinct sound influenced by artists as diverse as The National, Willie Nelson and Nirvana. His 22-song debut double album, Father’s Søn, arrived via Big Loud in September to critical acclaim.
