WHAT IT IS: Maryland native Joony has become a trailblazer in the DMV’s underground music scene. In September the newcomer and his homegrown collective 211 partnered with Red Bull Records and Grammy-nominated artist Blxst’s EVGLE imprint, and he’s since released his 10-track EP, MEMENTO, which boasts features from Lil Candypaint, Lancey Foux, TTM Dawg and Tony Shhnow. Having also notched chart-topping collabs with Brent Faiyaz and Jordan Ward, Joony is quickly proving why he’s one of 2023’s artists to watch.
