WHAT IT IS: Wuki is the genre-blending solo project of L.A.-based producer Kris Barman. Influenced by the sounds of Detroit “ghettotech” and Chicago footwork scenes, Barman is one of the most notable electronic acts to emerge from the West Coast in the last year. On the heels of his sample-driven party anthem, “We Like to Wuki,” the producer returned to Thrive to deliver “Edge of Seventeen,” which features U.K. pop vocalist Clementine Douglas. The sample-infused dancefloor gem is set to become one of the most-played club records this year.
