WHAT IT IS: Montreal native Chiiild spent years honing a unique blend of pop, R&B, soul and jazz behind closed doors. The award-winning multi-hyphenate began creating music under his own name, Yonatan “Yoni” Ayal, in 2017 before adopting the new moniker in 2020 with “Count Me Out” off his debut project, Synthetic Soul. His 2021 debut LP, Hope for Sale, was nominated for Alternative Album of the Year at the 2022 Juno Awards. He also received the Hi-Fidelity Award at the 2022 Prism Prize. Chiiild’s next project, Better Luck in the Next Life, will arrive in 2023.
