WHAT IT IS: Jiubel, born Jiubel Rodriguez to Cuban immigrants, makes indie pop saturated with color and punctuated with undeniable charm. Exploding off SoundCloud with singles like “Willow’s World” and “Wasted N Laced It” as Jaebanzz, the 21-year-old Miami native is ready to make waves under his new moniker. Growing up surrounded by classic rock and reggaeton, he found musical heroes in artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, Trippie Redd and Juice WRLD, citing the latter as his biggest influence. He wrote his latest release, “Notice Me,” in reaction to someone commenting, “What you do takes no skill,” and the track’s teaser video already boasts nearly 1m views and 130k+ likes. The single and his upcoming debut EP introduce Jiubel as a musician and display a deep commitment to his craft.
