WHAT IT IS: Captivating fans with their dreamy sounds, eloquent lyrics, catchy choruses and soundtrack-worthy instrumentation, The Walters have come roaring back after a four-year hiatus. Consisting of Luke Olson, Walter Kosner, MJ Tirabassi, Danny Wells and Charlie Ekhaus, the Chicago-based band first tasted success with the 2014 indie EP Songs for Dads, which yielded the now-viral, creamy pop-rock ditty “I Love You So.” Amassing north of a quarter billion streams on Spotify alone, the song has found new life thanks to TikTok and a newly recorded acoustic version—but all that merely hints at what’s to come for The Walters this year, as the band readies a new EP.
