WHAT IT IS: Born in Canada to Somali parents, raised between Toronto, North Carolina and Kenya and now based in L.A., Idman has established herself as an artist to watch over the last year. Having transitioned from social-justice work to music after graduating from Toronto’s The Remix Project, the singer/songwriter/activist has become known for blurring the lines between cultures and genres. she unleashed debut single “Down for It” in late 2020, followed by “Polytics,” while independently racking up 1m+ streams. Garnering acclaim from the likes of FADER, Complex, PAPER and more, Idman displays an unwavering sense of transparency and authenticity.
