WHAT IT IS: Debuting in 2017 at the age of 14 on producer M-Phazes Golden Years, Ruel, né Ruel Van Dijk, has already experienced several careers’ worth of success in the few years since bursting onto the scene. Now 19, the London-born, Sydney-based singer/songwriter has since dropped three EPs, earned five platinum certifications and accumulated 1b+ streams, while being hailed by Elton John and touring partners Khalid and Shawn Mendes. His latest is the neon-drenched earworm “GROWING UP IS _____.” The emotive and reflective single provides a glimpse of what fans can expect on his forthcoming album, due this summer.
