San Holo and Manila Killa have teamed up with singer/songwriter Nick Lopez for their dynamic new single, “Mean It.”
Written and recorded prior to the pandemic, the collab arrives as the first single following Holo’s sophomore set, bb u ok?, and marks Manilla’s final original track of the year.
Glimmering with indie-pop elements, “Mean It” highlights the best of both producers while incorporating Lopez’s emotive vocals.
Lopez has also previously penned with the likes of Demi Lovato, Omer Fedi and Christian French, among others.
“’Mean It’ is such a special song because it represents the intertwining of several people’s worlds,” said Killa. “It’s a song about coping with loss and intimacy which captures the essence of all of our songwriting styles, and I feel like it’s a connection that people will understand while listening to it.”
“This song came about in a super organic way,” added Lopez. I pulled up to Manila’s house to work on music with his roommate, but Manilla and San just so happened to be there hanging out. We all started talking and decided why not make a song together. We immediately found the vibe and the rest is history.”
