WHAT IT IS: What began in 2017 as a casual collaboration between Nina Ljeti and Jacob Loeb has evolved into Kills Birds, a powerful band that delivers emotionally biting material. As Loeb interpreted Ljeti’s words into hard-edged compositions, the pair enlisted bassist Fielder Thomas and drummer Bosh Rothman and dropped early tracks including “High,” “Ow” and “Worthy Girl” ahead of their self-titled debut album. Their unrelenting songs and electric live performances found fans in Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon. The punk rockers are now gearing up for their sophomore album, Married, recorded at Grohl’s own Studio 606.
