Hitmaker Poo Bear, neé Jason Boyd, has released his latest single, “The Day You Left.” via BMG. Co-written with Nabeel Y. Zahid and co-produced by Poo Bear, Skrillex and Sasha Sirota, the track also arrives alongside a music video.
Directed by Jay Weneta, the video—which features freediver Julie Gautier—conveys the single’s themes of loss. Following Poo Bear’s experience with his mother’s passing earlier this year, “The Day You Left” encapsulates a range of emotions through its sullen R&B tone and electronic flares.
“The day you left is the perfect balance between pain and joy and consistent selfishness and selflessness. It embodies the true meaning of a bittersweet loss. HBD!” Said Poo Bear.
One of Justin Bieber’s longtime collaborators, the Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer and Bieber signed a joint venture with Def Jam earlier this year for his label Bearthday Music.
Known for greeting everyone with a celebratory "Happy Birthday," Poo Bear has also worked with Jack Ü, J Balvin, Dan+Shay, Khalid, Mariah Carey, Ed Sheeran and more, contributing to his catalog that’s registered sales of more than 350m records globally, dozens of multiplatinum certifications and 100b streams and counting.
