WHAT IT IS: With credits ranging from Kane Brown’s “Heaven” to Charlie Puth’s “One Call Away,” artist/songwriter/producer Shy Carter is one of the most formidable up-and-coming talents in Nashville. Rooted in gospel, jazz, R&B and soul, Carter developed an early career in hip-hop before his gift for storytelling and love of organic instrumentation led to him step out as a country artist. In addition to his solo career, Carter has worked with the likes of Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Jennifer Lopez, Nelly and more, and he’s also among the writers behind hits like Keith Urban’s “When God Whispered Your Name,” Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” and Rob Thomas’ “Someday.” Carter’s debut single, “Good Love,” is a fitting introduction to the man behind the music.
