WHAT IT IS: From his humble beginnings in Hackney, London, to L.A., self-taught musician Ebenezer’s sound is an ode to the moods of love. His 2017 debut EP, Bad Romantic, included “53 Sundays,” a moving, dark and candid testament to his religious roots that set him apart from the sounds of grime and U.K. rap spilling out of his hometown. The singer/songwriter has also collaborated with the likes of Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Stefflon Don, SuperM and Craig David on his #1 U.K. album, Following My Intuition. Now, under 12Tone’s wing, Ebenezer has dropped Bad Romantic 2, featuring self-produced single “Flaws And All.” The new LP, with its skillful production and smooth vocals, solidifies his position in today’s hip-hop/modern R&B scene.
