WHAT IT IS: Newcomer Young Rog, short for Roger, is a self-proclaimed romantic. Of Bajan descent, the Virginia native recently dropped “On the Road,” the lead single from his forthcoming project, Medium Ugly. Though longtime fans may be familiar with Young Rog’s emcee skills and SoundCloud presence, he’s taking a fresh approach on the Gary Dawson-produced single, bringing a smooth tone to the R&B ballad and giving life to the heartfelt lyrics with his timbre and controlled vocals. The passionate mental-health advocate plans to bring a level of transparency and authenticity to both his music and his platform like never before.
