WHAT IT IS: Before becoming a breakthrough country artist, Matt Stell played college hoops at Drury and stood at a crossroads of enrolling in a pre-med program or pursuing a career in music. After he started writing and performing, Stell landed publishing and management deals and signed with Barry Weiss’ RECORDS and Arista Nashville. He went on to release “Prayed for You,” which went gold and became the only #1 single from a debut artist on the Country Airplay chart in 2019.
