WHAT IT IS: The singer/songwriter, artist, actor and performer—hailing from Brooklyn (and of Puerto Rican descent)—originated the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Grammy and Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Hamilton. Previous roles include Ramon in A Star Is Born (film) and Mars Blackmon in She’s Gotta Have It (Spike Lee’s Netflix show). Ramos recently wrapped filming the lead role in In the Heights, which is set to open June 2020. His debut album is out this fall.
