LYNDA KAY, LEMMY AND THE LONG-LOST MASK
8/23/19

Singer-songwriter Lynda Kay has released a duet with the late, great IanLemmyKilmister of Motörhead, “The Mask,” via Dreamphonic Records. Once believed to have been lost, the song was recently recovered and reveals the speed-metal god's more introspective, melodic side.

Kilmister, who began writing “The Mask” in 1979, finished the track in 2009 with Kay; he died in 2015. Now, a decade later, it's the lead single from Kay’s double album Black & Gold, out now.

A selection of songs from Kay’s album, which features 20 original and cover songs produced by her husband, Johnny Coffin, will also be featured in the Amazon Prime series Goliath, on which Kay co-stars with Billy Bob Thornton. The Golden Globe-winning series premieres on 10/12.

In addition to “The Mask,” other Kilmister music will be reissued in a new box set titled 1979, bringing music from Motörhead’s Overkill and Bomber albums along with live performances and outtakes. The collection is set for release on 10/25 via BMG. You can stream “The Mask” below.
