Alt-electro act Empire of the Sun just wrapped up the Walking on a Dream: 10th Anniversary Edition Tour with a sold-out, three-night stint at L.A.'s Fonda this past weekend (6/28-6/30). Frontman Luke Steele, accompanied by a band, celebrated the landmark debut of “Walking on a Dream,” which recently went gold. Sandwiched between bursts of jaw-dropping, cinematic production, Steele also included an acoustic performance, adding a new dimension to the show.
It's worth noting that, during the tour, an invitation was extended to audiences worldwide, as access was provided to the Australia natives’ Dallas show (6/12) via social VR app Oculus Venues—available on Oculus Go or GearVR. Fans were able to “attend” the show in virtual reality in real time if they weren't able to attend one of the 23 gigs.
On top of major festival looks like Coachella, Outside Lands and Governors Ball, Empire of the Sun will continue their fest run on 7/4 with a performance at Roskilde Festival in Denmark.
Pictured above is CMG Director of Artist Relations Kim Valderas, Steele, Astralwerk's Sr. Director of Marketing Luke Armitage, CMG's Director of Publicity MacKenzie Reynolds, and UMG's Sr. Director International Export Marketing Chris Nelson.
The duo also recently released a limited-edition vinyl of Walking on a Dream: 10th Anniversary Edition. Can’t wait for your vinyl to come? Stream the stuff via an official playlist below.
