THE B-SIDE
half•alive (RCA)
4/22/19

WHAT IT IS: The music of half•alive breathes, evolves, grows and changes alongside the lives of the Long Beach trio, made up of Josh Taylor (vocals), Brett Kramer (drums) and J Tyler Johnson (bass). Their sound encompasses R&B, funk, pop, rock and soul, while pulling from even more genres under a glow of disco-ball bliss. The band came to life on 2017’s 3 EP, which sparked a palpable buzz. They then crafted what would become their breakout single, “still feel.” The song took off, the video organically surpassed the 10m mark within two months and half•alive’s profile burgeoned. The three-piece kicked off this year with a bang, as they celebrated selling out their debut winter headline tour, watched their single skyrocket into the Top 15 at Alternative radio and have emerged as one of the most viral new bands of 2019.
