WHAT IT IS: This L.A.-based trio came to existence as the creative brainchild of songwriters and producers Cameron Walker-Wright (vocals)—of synth-pop band Nekokat—and brothers Stephen Gomez (bass) and John Gomez (guitar), who rose to international fame in The Summer Set. Collectively, the three have penned and produced an array of acts, including All Time Low, Lindsey Stirling and Life of Dillon. Their music has been featured in multiple commercials and trailers, notably driving clips for Disney’s Christopher Robin, ABC’s Lucifer and more. Though Walker-Wright and the Gomez brothers had and have been working as full-time writer/producers, their overlapping social circles kept pushing them together at random gigs across the country. It wasn’t until early 2017, after another serendipitous meeting at a L.A. house party, that they decided to try a day in the studio. Their instant synergy has resulted in a perfect storm of glistening retro synths, catchy basslines, memorable melodies and Walker’s smooth vocals. The EP—written and produced entirely by the band—presents a balanced dichotomy of music that’s bright and summery, while also dark and mysterious, fusing together an infectious anti-pop sound.
