LIDO GOT EP
9/28/18

BY NICOLE GHAPGHARAN

Singer, songwriter and producer Peder Losnegård, aka Lido, just dropped his highly anticipated EP I O U 1 today (9/28), and it’s everything I could’ve hoped for. Marking the first solo release since 2016 debut album Everything, Lido is constantly breaking the barriers of conventionality and it's inspiring af.

Speaking of inspiring, in the deep underbelly of Downtown L.A. last week, Lido held a pop-up shop that led close to 200 people to the Pico Union Project for a listening party that showcased just how multifaceted he is. Accompanied with only a piano and a mic, Lido sang stripped-down favorites, including his song with Petit Biscuit, “Problems,” as well as tracks from the I O U 1 EP and even some unfinished music. From the piano renditions to his signature electronic sounds, featuring a multitude of instruments, the energy and music in that room was unlike anything else I’ve experience this year. Lido seamlessly blends sounds and pushes the boundaries of genres with non-traditional production elements.

The Because Music/Caroline artist has also been involved with multiple collaborations this year, including Chance the Rapper’s "Work Out,” “Wala Cam,” and “65th and Ingleside,” his joint EP with J’von, Spacesuit, as well as Jaden Smith’s Syre. You might even recall his eight-minute re-imagining of Kanye West’s “Life of Pablo,” on SoundCloud, which he appropriately re-titled “Life of Peder.”

In addition to his most recent single, “Outstanding,” I O U 1 is made up of five tracks, including previously released singles “3 Million” and “Corner Love.” From start to finish, this project echoes emotion and authenticity. Lido is currently repped by The Beehive management.

Seen before manager Dorothy had a chance to warn him I’m one of “them” is myself and Lido at Opulen Studios. To stay up to date on when Lido is coming near you, click here. In the meantime, I’ll be patiently waiting for I O U 2.
