ZHU’s long-awaited Ringos Desert finally dropped, not long after the artist announced its completion on Twitter. Earlier this year, he released Ringos Desert Part 1, a seven-track glimpse of what was to come next. Full of dark and deep house grooves, the 14-song project includes features from OVO’s Majid Jordan, Tame Impala, JOY., Karnival Blues, Daniel Wilson, Keznamdi, and TOKiMONSTA, who will be supporting him on tour.
While the Mind of a Genius artist remained anonymous until mid-2014, he’s still rather elusive. In full ZHU fashion, he invited select fans to an undisclosed location in the middle of the desert for a secret performance. After text messages led fans to a Silverlake home, hundreds of people dressed in all-black stood in line to answer trivia questions and roll dice in an attempt to win tickets to the exclusive BLACKLIZT event. The lucky hundred who happened to score a ZHU bandana had their photos taken and were then given an address, leading them to a truly unique experience dancing until the Mojave sunrise—a solid preview of what to expect on his desert-inspired DUNE Tour.
ZHU is currently repped by TH3RD BRAIN Management. Tickets for ZHU’s tour this fall can be found here.
