STRANGERS IN THE NIGHTSEASON
7/1/18

BY NICOLE GHAPGHARAN

Nightseason, the independent duo composed of drummer/producer Patrick Zeinali and singer/guitarist Jordan Caiola, debuted their music like any other artists would, for the most part. Interestingly, the pair didn’t meet until after they finished writing their first EP, and even then it was via email. In an attempt to find a voice fit for his vision, Zeinali searched through Spotify until he came across indie-rock band Mo Lowda and The Humble. Caiola’s soulful, howling pipes struck Zeinali as the missing link, and once the two found common ground between painful breakups, living on opposite coasts couldn’t hinder their chemistry.

Caiola’s raw vocals, combined with Zeinali’s electro-infused alt-rock/ambient-pop production has made waves in the music scene, bending genres and drawing in comparisons to alt-J, Sir Sly and NomBe. The duo made a sizeable impression after their first release, “Calm My Mind,” which held the #1 position on HypeMachine.

“Strangers”—the first single off their forthcoming EP—dropped 6/29 and has undoubtedly earned a permanent spot on my own playlist. Caiola explains, “[The track] revolves around the concept that two people who could eventually end up in a very intimate, meaningful (or sometimes superficial and fleeting) relationship at some point... always start the same way - as strangers."

Fans can expect the arrival of the five-track EP later this year. In the meantime, you can follow Nightseason on Spotify and stay up to date with any future releases through their Facebook.
