WHAT IT IS: “Sober Up,” featuring Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, is the follow-up to AJR’s platinum smash single, “Weak.” The collaboration provided a full-circle moment for the group, who consider Weezer a huge influence, even going so far as to say, “We sort of position ourselves as the Weezer of 2010s.” Cuomo, apparently a fan of AJR as well, followed the band on Twitter and noted his appreciation for “Weak,” and a feature on an upcoming track seemed like the natural next step. AJR reached #38 on the Emerging Artists Chart, and their album went Top 10 for Pop Albums and Independent Albums.
