WHAT IT IS: This L.A.-based alt-pop trio features Pete Nappi, a self-taught producer rooted in art rock and underground hip-hop, Samantha Ronson, a high-profile DJ/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who matches her lyrical smarts with a sonic ingenuity, and Ethan Thompson, a classically trained vocalist and hit songwriter for major artists. The group released their first two songs, “Good News” and “Photos & Liquor,” in October and just released their self-titled debut EP on 3/3.
