BY KENZ MEADOWS

My fantasies of a garagey pop/rock duo have come utterly true. Force of nature
Alex Luciano is joined by ultra-tight drummer Noah Bowman in making Diet Cig, the kick-ass band that sold out The Echo last night.

This tour finds Luciano high-kicking all over the stage, dancing and jumping off amps with her pom-pom earrings swinging. She croons lyrics like, “It’s hard to be a punk while wearin’ a skirt” (with “Tummy Ache”), and dances around explosions of confetti that come down at the close of every show. The girl’s a natural.

They’re headlining a national tour with their recently released, debut full-length,
Swear I’m Good At This (Frenchkiss).Their premier EP, Overeasy (Father/Daughter), came out in 2015 and is absolutely worth a listen, but this album is a revelation of a commitment to their gritty style, despite improved production. Do something nice for yourself and give both records a good listen.
