WHAT IT IS: Liz Hopkins and Brittany Holljes front the six-piece band from Durham, NC, with robust bravado. Their sultry harmonies are rounded out with Holljes’ brothers Eric (vocals, piano) and Ian (vocals, guitar), as well as Mike McKee (percussion) and Grant Emerson (bass). The band’s moniker is based on a mythical story the Holljes siblings’ mother wrote about a Southern girl of the same name who summons the Greek gods to earth.
