If you're one to peruse through Spotify's New Music Friday playlist, there's usually a song (or two) that manages to grab you by the eardrums, causing you to look up from your social media platform of choice and find out where the hell it came from. Emma Dewing's "Buttons" is one of those songs.

Who exactly is Emma Dewing?

The Voice
Season 10 winner Alisan Porter introduced the young singer, ballerina and model to producer/songwriter Ely Rise, who has been developing her for the last few years.

Rise is coming off a particularly hot year, which he spent co-writing Dreezy & Jeremih's platinum hit, "Body," and "Hands"—the charity single featuring Britney Spears, Pink! Selena Gomez, Mary J Blige and more—as well as songs by Mike Posner and Nas. Oh, and he also worked on Justin Bieber's Purpose.

Out of the rough and into the limelight, the diamond that is Dewing sparkles brighter than ever on "Buttons." With a vocal quality reminiscent of Lana Del Rey, she's intriguingly weird like Lorde, while witty, clever and brazen like Lily Allen. Originality in the pop sphere is hard to come by, so you we suggest you appreciate this breath of fresh air. The label bidding war has already begun, so now the question is, where will she land? Stay tuned.
