WHAT IT IS: A$AP Rocky is walking down the street in London’s Soho at 4am when he stumbles across Joe Fox, guitar in hand, busking. Fox asks if A$AP wants to buy a mixtape, but A$AP asks him to play a song then and there; he likes what he hears so much that he invites Fox back to his studio via a quick stop-off at Starbucks (at this point Fox is blissfully unaware of who A$AP is) and ends up offering his hotel sofa for Fox to crash on. They end up writing five songs for A$AP’s At.Long.Last.A$AP together (including “Pharcyde”) and Fox finds himself as a featured artist on the record, alongside MIA and Kanye. In a nutshell, a star is born! Fox is already picking up fans at Spotify (two New Music Fridays) and has earned an iTunes artist spotlight and Radio 1 and XFM love, alongside great tastemaker press from Fader, NME, Beat Magazine, Clash and The Line Of Best Fit—to name but a few. He’s currently on his first solo acoustic tour around the U.K. & recently sold out The Montague Arms in Peckham. Four songs were sequentially released on all BSPs over a four-week period, resulting in a collected EP on the fifth week. Tour footage is now being released every week, culminating in a longform tour diary/documentary, alongside two live videos.
