WHAT IT IS: The Motown priority and UMPG writer/producer is one of the year’s most promising up-and-coming artists. Kole walked into UMPG three years ago, wowed the creative staff with his artistry and great songs, and Ethiopia Habtemariam immediately signed him as a developing artist and writer. He’s since become one of the most in-demand writers for UMPG and, most recently, the architect of Alessia Cara’s Top 10 smash (and Spotify’s Most Viral Song of 2015) “Here.” He’s also a featured artist on her song “Stone,” as well as an associate executive producer for her entire album. Kole is now putting finishing touches on his debut album, with the first single dropping in May. Says Habtemariam, “We are putting him in a ton of sessions, helping him to build his song catalog. He represents everything we believe in—early discovery, development and great songs. We are beyond proud of him and his work with Alessia. This is just the beginning for him.”
