WHAT IT IS: Born Daystar Peterson, Lanez is a rising rapper, singer/songwriter and producer. He rose to prominence following the release of his acclaimed mixtapes Lost Cause, Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story and Chixtapes 1 and 2. Born and raised in Toronto, he now lives in Miami. Recently, he released his current single, as well as his critically acclaimed mixtape, Cruel Intentions, in collaboration with cult label WEDIDT. The project features productions from RL Grime, Baauer, Shlohmo and D33J, with one track produced by Lanez and Play Picasso. He’s also featured on “Lord Knows,” the opening track on Meek Mill’s latest, Dreams Worth More Than Money.
