ARTIST DISCOVERY: THE DONNIES THE AMYS
9/22/15

As the new kid on the music biz block, I'm still learning the ropes and am beginning to realize that discovering and championing an artist before they break is a sure-fire way to get some serious street cred around here. This not only earns eternal bragging rights, but an excuse to mention how ahead of the game you are in every article, Facebook status or tweet you release once that band is huge. God forbid you miss a chance to remind everyone of how much Nachas that artist brings you.

That being said, I'm pretty darn sure that our team found the next big thing in The Donnies The Amys. This indie pop duo, comprised of a pretty-boy actor and smokin' female drummer (who happens to work with Fiona Apple and Conway), first gained some notoriety through various TV syncs on Suits, Grey’s Anatomy and more. They later exploded in Holland once their original single, “Drive You Home,” was added to Spotify Netherlands' Autumn Rain playlist. Sony Holland caught wind of their rising Spotify stats and immediately jumped on the chance to ink a deal with the band.

Meanwhile, EDM chart topper, Sam Feldt, fell in love with the track and created a killer remix with The Him. The track hit 1.5m plays in less than a month and is currently being worked by Spinnin' and Polydor UK as the follow-up to Feldt’s Top 5 U.K. single, "Show Me Love." Word on the street is that the pubco bidding war has officially been waged; we're just waiting to find out who comes out on top.

Feast your ears on the remix (above), so you can be one of the lucky few saying, "You just discovered TDTA? I loved them before you had any idea they existed!"

Stay tuned; the official music video for "Drive You Home" is due this fall.

L'chaim,
Naomi Robin
