THE B-SIDE
CHART CHAT
8/5/15

HITS' own Jesse Beer (CliprKid) and Naomi Robin (RockinRobin) jump on the web to discuss the newest adds on the radio charts this week, and you've got an inside look at their chat. Find out what's hot on their radar.

RockinRobin: Jesse. We need to discuss Country.

CliprKid: Fine… My wife likes Country so I have learned to have an appreciation for it

RockinRobin: Have you heard Dierks Bentley’s “Riser” that debuted this week? Viagra should license it for a commercial featuring his mighty purrty face

CliprKid: I see what u did there, but NO. Song has a catchy hook but not my favorite Dierks track

RockinRobin: Whatever bro..

CliprKid: Ok, we did one country song. Moving on.. I can’t get enough of the new A Great Big World song. I love the message and the reaction so far has been impressive as it’s already in the top 100 on Shazam! Reminds me so much of the Wiz/ Charlie Puth track, and we all know how big that song is

RockinRobin: Precisely - it’s so sweet. Just hit HOT AC & shouldn’t be long till it reaches Top 40. Btw, I’m glad Alessia Cara’s “Here” finally hit Top 40. SO excited to see her at the Troubadour tomorrow night

CliprKid: Bummed I can’t make it. I love her, she’s a superstar. 3 million views on the video and #37 most Shazamed song and it’s just a baby right now

RockinRobin: Quite a few young’ns are coming up. Little Mix’s “Black Magic” just hit Top 40. I know it’s skewed towards a younger demo, but I think it’ll be a hit regardless

CliprKid: The girls are super talented and massive in the UK. Curious to see if this is the song that finally breaks them in the US. It’s just outside the top 100 on Shazam US

RockinRobin: Their label, Columbia, must be thrilled to have 3 tracks impact Top 40 this week, including One Direction’s first Zayn-less track “Drag Me Down.” I’m digging their evolved sound. Someone in the office just compared them to The Police... Ha

CliprKid: Oh, I don’t know if i would compare them to The Police, but girls do love them. I’m sure this song will be a massive hit

RockinRobin: Def. Moving on to my fav format, Triple A. I’m really excited to see Beirut’s “No No No” debut this week. I wake up to it every morning :)

CliprKid: I actually have u to thank for turning me on to this little tune.. It’s super catchy - really is the perfect wakeup song

RockinRobin: You’re so welcome! You should also check out “Mountain At My Gates” by the Foals. Ted Volk turned me onto it a fews weeks ago with his iGen column and it just hit Alt

CliprKid: Yes, I am very aware of that song. Such a good one! That Ted has great taste

RockinRobin: On that note, I’m gonna see if he wants to join me for lunch

CliprKid: Ummm where’s my invite?
