HITS' own Jesse Beer (CliprKid) and Naomi Robin (RockinRobin) jump on the web to discuss the newest adds on the radio charts this week, and you've got an inside look at their chat. Find out what's hot on their radar.
RockinRobin: Hey sicko. Missed you last week. Have you listened to the new records that debuted at Top 40, Alt, AAA, and Hot AC this week?
CliprKid: A ton of good music to get into. I wanna start off with Natalie La Rose and her new single. I was up in Wendy Goldstein’s office a couple weeks ago and she played it for me, sounds like a smash. Was genius to put Fetty Wap on it
RockinRobin: Totally. I love dancing to "Around The World"! Excited to see what they do with the music video, as they haven’t released one yet
CliprKid: I’m sure they have big plans. Speaking of videos, have you seen the lyric vid for Demi Lovato’s new song, “Cool For The Summer”?
RockinRobin: Yes! She looks absolutely gorgeous. We should keep an eye on it as it climbs the Top 40 chart
CliprKid: Seems like a big summer record, right? And she looks HOT!
RockinRobin: Definitely! Michael Franti & Spearhead’s “Once A Day" is another amazing summer tune. It just hit AAA and is so good that I downloaded it before I even got to the chorus
CliprKid: Yes the more and more I listen to it, I wanna get out of my chair and dance, although I am not a good dancer lol
RockinRobin: You should join Karen and me at Zumba to learn some moves!
CliprKid: I don’t think I'm Zumba material
RockinRobin: That’s ok. There are other great tracks debuting that don’t require you to have great dances moves. I’m really enjoying Brandi Carlile’s single, "The Eye," which debuted on AAA. It’s so refreshing to hear a somewhat minimally produced track featuring gorgeous harmonies atop a soothing guitar riff
CliprKid: It's pretty but doesn’t get me excited. You know what does? Metric’s new single, “The Shade.” Such a huge fan of theirs. Curious to see how it does. Debuted this week at #37 on Alt
RockinRobin: It’s nice to see those Canadians back in action. I'm a bigger fan of “Help I’m Alive.” That track peaked at #17 on the Alt chart, but this new track is more poppy and I have a feeling it'll surpass their previous success on the charts
CliprKid: Ya, def rooting for them. Let's keep on them for sure. Speaking of bands we're fans of, what do you think of the new Civil Twilight song? I managed a band who went on tour with them... good guys, killer band
RockinRobin: I absolutely love “Holy Dove,” which debuted on Alt this week. The album drops on Friday and I'm hoping their other tracks are just as solid as that single.
CliprKid: Ya, their last big song was “Letters from the Sky,” which got as high as #7 on alternative. I wonder how this song reacts
RockinRobin: I think this will do just as well, if not better. I like it more than their previous single. Have you heard Robert Delong’s “Don’t Wait Up”? It’s the second single off his upcoming album, In The Cards, and just debuted at 37 on Alt. He’s incredible. Hoping to catch him at The Palladium in October
CliprKid: Ya it's cool, when you see the video you appreciate it even more. He's a good musician. A song that is a no brainer though is "Renegades" by X Ambassadors with a #1 on Alternative and now hitting the Hot AC charts. Gotta figure that song crosses over to Top 40 at some point, right?
RockinRobin: Hell yeah! Their sync with the Jeep Renegade is helping take them to the next level. Alex Da Kid is brilliant
CliprKid: Alex Da Kid really is... kudos to him
RockinRobin: Meghan Trainor’s slowest single yet, “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” just hit Hot AC. I love how the song showcases her softer side
CliprKid: This record is def more of a departure from her other records, more of slow groove record. I really like it and John Legend kills it on there too
RockinRobin: Agreed. Looking forward to hearing the new debuts next week!
CliprKid: Catch ya then!
