WHAT IT IS: This singer/songwriter’s distinctly modern musicality and soulful sound uniquely allows him to blend and bend genres effortlessly. After the release of several successful mixtapes, he independently released his critically-acclaimed debut LP, Pineapple Now-Laters, in 2012. BJ is often described as the modern-day Marvin Gaye; his emotive vocals have been featured on tracks for Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Schoolboy Q, Chance The Rapper and more. The Grammy-nominated artist is currently putting the finishing touches on his major label debut, due out early fall 2015.
