THE B-SIDE
FOR LOVE OF IVY
3/25/15

The message of "Biscuit" by Cherrytree/Interscope's Ivy Levan is fairly straightforward--and agreeably provocative. The hard-charging dance/pop track and its playful video (now at around 750k views and watchable below) are creating buzz on the torchy "swamp-hop" diva, whose debut full-length is due on 8/25; it features collaborations with Sting and Diplo, among others.

"We love us some Ivy Levan," declared Perez Hilton, who dubbed 'Biscuit' "bold [and] ballsy," adding that it "sounds like nothing else out there right now."

Levan recently performed at SXSW (with Cherrytree ruler Martin Kierszenbaum backing her on bass). "This phenomenally talented woman," wrote Yahoo Music's Lyndsey Parker after Levan's Austin set, "is about to blow up." She just recorded the opening song for the comedy thriller Spy, starring Melissa McCarthy and directed by Paul Feig (Bridesmaids).
