WHAT IT IS: This mother-and-son duo provides soulful, folk-leaning music. The pair consists of singer/guitarist and songwriter Madisen Ward and his mother Ruth, also on vocals and guitar. They’ve been playing together frequently in their hometown of Kansas City. Recently, a trip to the Americana Music Festival in Nashville placed the band in a national spotlight and garnered critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, NPR, PASTE and CMT Edge. Their performance on Letterman showcased their mesmerizing songwriting, vocals and live dynamic.
