WHAT IT IS: This Oregon-bred singer/songwriter possesses all the qualities a fan of an acoustic-based pop artist could want—a rich, soulful voice with loads of texture, heartfelt and deeply personal lyrics, bright and nimble guitar playing—alongside a relatable, amiable presence to deliver it all. Veteran writer-producer Dr. Luke saw these qualities when he signed Burghardt to his Sony Music imprint Kemosabe, in partnership with RCA. On his debut EP, Burghardt worked in the studio with songwriters and producers in L.A., N.Y. and Nashville, including Gregg Wattenberg (Train, Phillip Phillips), Derek Fuhrmann (Phillip Phillips, O.A.R.), and up-and-comer Josh Grant (Shawn Mendes).
