A few days ago, Columbia's new signing, Leon Bridges, released the official video for his debut single, "Coming Home" (above). Bridges, only 25 years old, is the epitome of an old soul trapped in the wrong generation, and bless him for that.

I first heard the Forth Worth, TX-bred wunderkind when he took SoundCloud by storm late last year, earning north of a million plays post haste for his timeless revival of soulful '60s R&B.

Catching him at his L.A. showcase at Hotel Cafe was a real treat, as he somehow managed to put his audience in a trance-like state and caressed our ears with the tenderest of instant classics. He croons about his mother and how his grandparents met, about the Louisiana sun and New Orleans and the Ninth Ward.

Like a warm beignet on a Sunday afternoon by the Missisippi river, his music will warm you from the inside out, satisfy your cravings and make life a little sweeter.

Songs like "Coming Home," "Better Man" and "Lisa Sawyer" will get you sippin' whiskey neats so fast you won't know what hit ya. At least I didn't.

FYI, you can catch the charmer on U.S. tour dates that include SXSW & Newport Folk Fest. You theoretically COULD try to catch him in N.Y.C., but his headline gig at Bowery Ballroom sold-out in six quick mins. Word has it that tix will go on sale for a newly added set at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on 3/13 so set a reminder or tattoo a note to your flesh Memento-style if you have to. Just make sure you don't miss out.
