TEMPEST RIDES THE WAVE
6/21/23

Joey Tempest, vocalist and main songwriter of the band Europe, has struck a partnership with Primary Wave Music.

The publisher will acquire a portion of the singer’s music publishing catalog across five albums. Included in the deal are some of Tempest’s most well-known songs including “The Final Countdown,” “Rock The Night,” “Superstitious” and “Carrie.”

Lexi Todd, VP, Business & Legal Affairs at Primary Wave Music, said of Tempest, “His songs will continue to Rock The Night for generations to come, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce this new partnership.”

A native of Stockholm, Tempest formed the band that would become Europe in 1979. After the band went on hiatus in 1992, Tempest released three solo albums; the band reunited in 2004. An official Europe documentary will be released this year and head out on a 40th anniversary tour.

“As a song writer it’s a privilege to have part of my catalog in the same place as one of my heroes, Bob Marley,” Tempest said. “I feel my songs are in good hands and will benefit from the experience and expertise of my new friends in New York.”
