Sony Music Publishing U.K. has inked singer-songwriter/producer Naomi Kimpenu to a global pub deal.
The East London native made a splash in 2021 with her EP, Prelude, which yielded hits like “Only” and “Who I Am.” Written, recorded and produced by Kimpenu, the four-track set also earned her the Rising Star honor at the 2022 Ivor Novello Awards.
“It feels like the beginning of my legacy. It's such an exciting time in my life. Signing my first ever publishing deal with Sony is such an incredible and surreal feeling,” said Kimpenu.
“Naomi is an exceptional talent with a very bright future ahead of her,” shared Tim Major, SMP U.K. co-Managing Director.
“Not only is she a wonderful performer and songwriter, but she is also an inspiration to all young female songwriters, creating and producing everything herself,” added Sarah ‘Pixie’ Pickering, VP Creative, Sync.
Earlier this year, Kimpenu released the live version of Prelude, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Check out the vid for "Yellow Bridge" below.
