Jane Carter has been appointed President, Universal Production Music, overseeing the entirety of Universal Production Music and its entities worldwide.
Based in London and reporting to Universal Music Publishing Group Chairman and CEO Jody Gerson, Carter will lead the company’s innovation and production music growth strategy.
Previously Managing Director in the U.K. for Universal Production Music, Carter becomes the first woman to lead global production at a major music publishing company.
“Jane’s much-deserved promotion to President is an indication of my commitment to solidifying Universal Production Music as the premier production library in the world through improved technology, innovation and best-in-class music,” Gerson said.
Prior to joining Universal Production Music, she served as Business Manager and Executive Producer for film composer George Fenton, managing his publishing catalog and live event portfolio. She has worked with composers such as Michael Nyman, Max Richter and Craig Armstrong and produced two BBC Proms with the National Theatre and Aardman Annimation.
Carter has also held roles as General Manager for BBC Worldwide Music Publishing; Creative Director, BBC Music; and Head of Marketing for Warner Classics UK.
