WCPM OPENS TWO STUDIOS
6/2/21

Warner Chappell Production Music has opened the doors to two new recording studios—SkyLight Studios in L.A. and Sandtrack Sound in Nashville.

Partnering with Criterion Acoustic’s David Kotch, SkyLight Studios, a former mastering lab, was redesigned to offer digital and analog recording capabilities, Pro Tools systems, a Neve console, vintage microphones, tape machines, outboard gear and a 500-square foot tracking room with a 9' concert grand piano.

SkyLight also provides custom music services as well as recording and mixing support for the WCPM library. Its staff includes five-time Grammy-winner and House Engineer Ryan Freeland as well as WCPM’s VP of Production, Scott Reinwand. Both will report to WCPM’s Head of Production, Pat Weaver.

“The transformation of this space has been a year in the making and very much a labor of love. We’re extremely excited to be a part of the creative community here in Hollywood and have assembled a top-notch team to help expand our custom services and step up our game across the board,” said Weaver.

Located on Nashville’s Music Row, Soundtrack Sound offers an 8,200+ square foot building, which was previously known as Emerald Sound Studio and later, Benchmark Sound. Built in 1981 by acoustic designer Tom Hidley, the studio has seen the creation releases from the likes of Johnny Cash, George Strait, Bon Jovi, Olivia Newton-John and more.

Featuring three studios, Studio A, which is the largest, can hold 30+ musicians. New equipment includes a custom hybrid Avid S6/Tonelux 1628 console and microphone preamplifiers by Rupert Neve Designs, among others. The studio will be overseen by SVP of Production, Aaron Gant, alongside long-time House Engineer, Mark Lonsway.

“We’re thrilled to be working out of such a historic studio and using it to bring together Music City’s talented songwriters and musicians to record for Warner Chappell Production Music. Our team is extremely excited for the future,” shared Gant.
